Getting involved at The Big Yak

The success of the big yak is dependent on you. That is a big statement don’t you think? Well it is something we stand behind and wouldn’t’ have it any other way.

Yes, that’s right we need you at the big yak but it is up to you on how you want to be involved. You can either be an active participant before, during and even after the event by tweeting, blogging and participating in discussions or running a session (more about this in a later post). Or, you could become a sponsor or volunteer.

Being more than a participant

The big yak is a non-profit event created on the sole purpose to bring together people who are passionate and want to learn more about internal comms.  As we look to create an even bigger and better event this year we need your help.

Money – that’s what we want!

Last year we had a fantastic group of sponsors who helped us create a free and engaging event but as we aim to grow this event to hit the 200 participant mark we need even more support. By providing the event with sponsorship your company will help to cover the costs of venue hire, food and any other miscellaneous costs such as name badges, pens, papers, etc. We have a range of packages available: gold, silver, bronze and media supporter

If your company is interested in sponsoring the big yak please contact Jenni Wheller.

We also need people to help us make sure the big yak runs smoothly; from set-up and take down to directing people to the right rooms. Simply put, people to put up with our demands and do our bidding. If that doesn’t scare you then here are the things we will need help with:

  • Set-Up Before / Take down after Event
  • Morning Registration
  • Runners
  • Room Chaperones

If you are interested in volunteering at the big yak, please complete our volunteer registration form and Dana Leeson will be in contact soon.

Last week we announced that the first batch of tickets for the big yak will be available on 1 April. If you don’t want to miss out on a ticket,  you can register your interest by emailing us at We have already received a lot of positive comments about the return of the big yak and it is great to read that this is such a valued event.

We can’t wait to yak with you on 28 June!
